Keywords

The keyword (sometimes referred to as the anchor) that ends your page’s URL should be related to what users are searching for on your site, and should help you rank higher in the SERP for that particular keyword.

Finding and adding good backlinks to your website is an essential part of building backlinks. Google recognizes that most links are outbound links that link to your website and other relevant pages on the web. Unless you have a compelling reason not to outsource the work to a good and trustworthy SEO company, then this work should be managed in-house. The following tips will outline the steps and tools you can use to connect with potential backlink partners and perform site audits.

Auditing your Backlinks

Before you begin to invest resources in manually linking sites, you should first perform a site audit. The site audit should be performed by a person with very specific training. Ideally, an established SEO agency should be consulted, or at the very least by someone in a similar position to the site’s owner, someone who’d be able to explain Google trends. If you are confident of your ability to create value for the client, then a friend or a professional site audit may also be adequate.

Not everyone has a webmaster background. For example, if you are not familiar with Google Webmaster Tools, you will be asked to perform a search for your competitors website. After the search is completed, an audit of the competitor’s website is started, including things such as number of pages indexed, reach and performance metrics. Google’s webmaster tools have functions that you can use to perform a site audit in the event of a technical issue. The results can be used to help you focus your efforts on the potential links on your site.

If you are engaged in an SEO consulting relationship, then you should contact a trusted partner. An experienced company will perform an assessment, and a decision can be made as to whether your link needs attention. If you are using the Google Webmaster Tools tools, you can also use the search bar to search for your competitor’s site. Click on the “Help” link for the word “website audit” and click on the “site audit” tab.

Before you begin to audit your links, you should visit sites with which you are in a competitive position. If you are targeting backlinks and a site, your objective should be to research the competitors and your competitors competitors. Then make a list of the backlinks you want to identify and add to your audit report.
