From the Archives – Streetcars

With news of the Mayor talking about bringing back streetcars, we thought it would be nice to pay tribute to the form of public transportation that has long since left the River City.

The first electric trolley lines in the country were located here in Richmond, VA. They began service in January 1888 and ceased in November 1949. Here are some photos of streetcars, including their final departure.
